Alton Towers

Alton Towers Resort is the UK’s leading short break resort, offering as it does an unrivalled selection of attractions for the whole family to enjoy together.
The origins of the Towers themselves date back to the 8th century, although the theme park and hotels are slightly less historic! Follow the links below to learn a little more about our history, our place in the Community and our parent company, the Merlin Entertainments Group.

Alton Towers Resort Charity Requests

Alton Towers Resort Charity Requests

As an individual attraction, the Alton Towers Resort has a very robust social responsibility agenda. In 2011, £96,000 of free tickets and vouchers have been donated to charities in Staffordshire, specifically the Staffordshire Moorlands, and a further £327,560 worth were donated to Merlin’s Magic Wand. This is a charity set up by our parent company, the Merlin Entertainment Group, to provide magical experiences for children who are seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged and who might not otherwise be able to attend any of its attractions worldwide. We have also donated items such as cuddly toys, clothes and bric-a-brac to local charities and schools which were used in raffles and fetes to raise money. With our help, local support groups have raised thousands of pounds for smaller charities. Overall in 2011 we estimate that we have given £430,000 to charities and other good causes.

In order to mirror the objectives of our own charity as closely as possible, we focus our aid on those registered charities or organisations that provide assistance to children; this includes schools, PTA’s, Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Rainbow Groups, young carer groups and young volunteer groups. We also try to support hospices, hospital wards and medical appeals where the prime beneficiaries will be children.

We will consider applications from registered charities from within Staffordshire that meet the above over-all objectives. If you feel that you meet the criteria, please write to Alton Towers Resort Central Admin, Alton Towers Resort, Alton, Staffordshire ST10 4DB. Your letter must be on headed paper and include the registered charity number. Each application will be considered on its own merit but given the sheer number of applications that we receive, we can only reply to those that are successful.
